Hoje trago um post um pouco diferente ao blog, com um tema sobre o qual ainda não tínhamos falado, e o tema é cosplay. Apesar do cosplay ser uma actividade cada vez mais conhecida, eu vou explicar um pouco sobre ela e falar da minha experiência neste novo mundo!
Today I bring a different post to the blog, about a theme that we haven't spoke of yet, and the theme is cosplay. Tho cosplay is an activity more and more well known, I will explain a little bit about it and talk about my experience in this new world!
O que é cosplay:
A palavra "cosplay" é uma abreviatura das palavras "costume" e "play", podendo-se ser traduzida para "representação de um personagem" ou "disfarce". Basicamente, ser cosplayer é ser alguém que recria (ou compra) os fatos de um determinado personagem e interpreta-o quando o usa, com a ajuda de maquilhagem e outros para a sua caracterização. Esta actividade pode ser considerada uma arte, uma vez que cada cosplayer é um artista. O cosplay pode ser um hobby ou, como existem alguns, uma profissão.
What is cosplay:
The world "cosplay" comes from the words "costume" and "play" and it can be translated to "performing a character" or "dressing up". Basically, being a cosplayer is being someone that recreates (or buys) the clothes of a certain character, representing him when it uses it, with the help of makeup and other stuff to it's caracterization. This activity can be a hobby or, for some people, a profession.

Ao longo do último ano, decidi aventurar-me ao mundo do cosplay, pois foi algo que sempre gostei de ver e imaginava-me a fazer. Nunca imaginei é que fazer cosplay pudesse ser tão fantástico!
Desde o processo de criação do fato até ao êxtase de no dia do evento usa-lo, tudo é importante e divertido. Aprendi imensas coisas novas graças a este hobby e todos os eventos são ainda mais importantes graças a eles!
In this last year, I decided to adventure myself in the world of cosplays because it was something that I always liked seeing and I could imagine myself doing it. But I never imagined that being a cosplayer could be so wonderful!
Since the process of creation of the clothes till the ecstasy of wearing the cosplay in the event, everything it important and fun. I learn many new things thanks to this hobby and every convention is even more important thanks to it!
Vou partilhar convosco algumas das minhas inspirações no mundo do cosplay:
I'm gonna share with you some of my inspirations of the cosplay world:
1º - Reika - A Reika é conhecida mundialmente por ser das cosplayers mais experientes do mundo. Apesar da sua aparência jovem, ela já faz cosplay à 20 anos! Ela é o meu maior ídolo e inspiração pois tudo o que ela faz é totalmente igual ao personagem e ela consegue ficar MELHOR que o personagem em si, na maioria das vezes. Outra coisa que admiro imenso nela é o facto de ela ficar fantástica a fazer de homem (conhecido como crossdressing). Um pequeno aparte, recentemente tive oportunidade de a conhecer num evento que houve (Iberanime Oporto 2016) e eu juro, ela é super super amorosa e talentosa, foi um sonho tornado realidade quando pude tirar uma foto com ela e ver o workshop dela!
1º- Reika - Reika is a worldwide well known cosplayer for being one of the most experient ones. Tho she looks young, she's a cosplayer for 20 years! She is my greatest idol and inspiration because everything she does is totally accurate with the character and she can look BETTER than the character itself sometimes. Another thing that I also admire in her a lot, is the fact that she looks awesome while cosplaying a man (also known as crossdressing). A little note, recently I had the opportunity to meet her in an event that happened here (Iberanime Oporto 2016) and I swear, she is super super lovely and talented, it was a dream coming true when I was able to take a photo with her and watch her workshop!
2º - YayaHan - A YayaHan também é conhecida por todo o mundo pois também já é cosplayer à imensos anos! Assim como a Reika, YayaHan faz os seus fatos de forma TOTALMENTE igual aos personagens, assim como os props (props são as armas ou acessórios de cada personagem, que são cruciais à mesma). É conhecida mais pelos seus cosplays de heróis de banda desenhada e de jogos!
2º- YayaHan - YayaHan is also known worldwide because she's also cosplayer for a few years now! Just like Reika, YayaHan does her cosplays TOTALLY accurately, as well as the props (props are the guns and accessories that the characters use, that are crucial to it). She's well known for her heros from comic books and games cosplays, as well as anime characters too.
3º - Tasha - Tasha é uma cosplayer coreana que eu admiro imenso pois ela faz maioritariamente (para não dizer apenas) cosplays de jogos. Estes conseguem ser bastante detalhados e complicados devido às armas, armaduras e outros detalhes, mas a Tasha consegue sempre recreá-los de forma perfeita!
3º - Tasha - Tasha is a korean cosplayer that I admire a lot because she, almost always, does game cosplays. This ones can be really detailed and hard to make due to the guns, armor and other details, but Tasha can always recreate them in a perfect way!

Então, porquê a paixão por cosplay?
O cosplay permite-me, não só aprender coisas novas, como ser os meus heróis por um dia! Sim, esta é a minha resposta mais honesta. Desde criança que sempre amei mascarar-me no Carnaval e poder voltar a encontrar aquele êxtase e felicidade de ser alguém que amamos por um dia, faz toda a diferença! Para além disso, permite-nos dar asas à nossa imaginação e inventar coisas novas como fatos, acessórios, depois de algum tempo a recriar de personagens de anime/séries/bd/jogos.
Graças a cosplay já fiz imensos amigos que partilhavam esta actividade e acreditem, fazer cosplay em grupo é muito mais engraçado do que estando sozinha!
Then, why this passion for cosplay?
Cosplay allows me, not only to learn new things, but also to be my heroes for one day! Yes, this is my honest answer. Since I was a child that I loved dressing for Carnival and being able to find again the ecstasy and happiness of being someone you love for one day, makes a difference! Besides that, it allows us to use our imagination and create new stuff like clothes, accessories, after a long time recreating characters from anime/series/comics/games.
Thanks to cosplays I made tons of friends that share this activity and, believe me, doing group cosplay is funnier than alone!

Não vou dizer que esta actividade tem pontos negativos, porque tem. Pode-se tornar cara pois na grande maioria das vezes, não se recebe nada por fazer fatos (a não ser que se vá a competição mas para isso é preciso fatos um pouco melhores) e nem sempre toda a gente tem mente aberta para não julgar o cosplayer por ser mais alto ou mais gordo ou mais magro ou mais baixo que o personagem em si. Mas sou da opinião que quando gostamos realmente do que estamos a fazer, conseguimos ultrapassar isso!
I'm not saying that this activity doesn't have it's negative points, because it has. It can become expensive because, in it's great majority, we don't receive anything for making this cosplays (unless we participate in competition but that requires better costumes) and not everyone has an open mind to not judge the cosplayer for being taller or fatter or skinnier of smaller than the character itself. But I think that when we really love what we do, we can surpass this!
No seu geral, não podia estar mais feliz por ter entrado neste mundo de fantasia e criação, pois ajudou-me a melhorar muitas coisas em mim mesma. E como sempre, gostava de vos convidar a todos que lêem no nosso blog a experimentar um dia, se tiverem interesse! Escolham um personagem que amem do fundo do vosso coração, tentem fazer o fato ou se virem que não são bons nisso, comprem caso possam, e vistam-se dele e vão a um evento assim. Eu garanto-vos que, pode não ser o que vocês esperavam, mas que se vão sentir bastante diferentes nesse dia!
Overall, I couldn't be happier from entering in this world of fantasy and creation, because it helped me to overcome a lot of things in myself. And like I always do, I would like to invite all of you that read our blog to try it one day, if you have interest about it! Chose a character that you love from the bottom of your heart, try to make the clothes or, if you see you aren't really good in that, buy it if you can, and dress like it and go to a convention like that. I guarantee you that, it may not be what you expected, but you will feel a lot different that day!
